Scott Hirsch is the CEO of Media Direct Inc., but he attributes much of his motivation to working with some of the top boxing athletes. He considers his function as a manager to be one of the most rewarding and important occupations he's ever had. JD Chapman, who recently came out of retirement for an unbeaten season, is his most recent accomplishment.Adapting to Champions by Scott Hirsch

JD "The Natural" Chapman returned from retirement in June 2021, going 29-0 with 26 TKOs. Before going pro in 2002, this boxer never fought as an amateur, instead competing in Toughman Contests. Scott O Hirsch was Chapman's manager, and he helped him develop into the heavyweight contender he is today.

Hirsch recognizes that boxing talent can range widely in terms of skill and strength. Everything from experience to specialty will influence how boxers approach each new technique. Hirsch needed to learn quickly on the job in order to keep up.

On Identifying and Nurturing Boxing Talent
During his long career as a manager, he also collaborated with Shannon Briggs and Jameel McCline. Both boxers would put Hirsch and his management skills to the test, but it was a challenge he was eager to take on.

Scott Hirsch takes pleasure in his ability to see opportunities that others do not. Chapman, for example, would return from retirement to defeat Edward Guiterrez, Matt Hicks, and John Carlo. Shannon Briggs will travel the world for various speaking engagements, including those with the Panthers, Heat, and Marlins.

This experience would teach him more about what talent looks like and how to bring it out in each athlete. Just because a boxer isn't knocking out every opponent doesn't imply he doesn't have potential.
